Basic Rules to Play Roulette

If you're aware of the casinos' existence, then you've more or less heard about roulette. This game is perhaps one of the most popular ones in every single casino, owing to the fact that it's rather straightforward and easy to play, not to mention that it's quite easy to win in a spin if you know where to bet. In fact, it can be considered an icon of casino gambling, as the roulette wheel and ball have become a rather common representation of gambling establishments.

As previously mentioned, roulette's gameplay is easy and very straightforward, and may even appear mundane to a non-gambling spectator. This is part of the game's charm, essentially. So then, how does one play roulette? Here's a short step-by-step guide detailing the game's mechanics.

1. Buy your chips.

As with any other casino game, you'll need chips to play roulette. You can usually purchase roulette-exclusive chips from the dealer himself. These are colored differently so as to differentiate the bets of one player to another.

2. Place your stakes.

Once you have your chips and spot in the roulette table, you may now begin placing your bets on the board. There are two different types of bets, namely the inside bets and the outside bets.

The former is represented by the green zero slots and red and black ones numbered 1 to 36, all neatly arranged in the roulette board's center. These are surrounded by the aptly-labeled outside bets which include those for red, black, even and odd numbers, and those for certain ranges, specifically the numbers 1-18, 19-36, columns and dozens.

Outside bets are generally easier to win, but pays a whole lot less than the harder to win inside bets. Thus these are often exploited by roulette systems and recommended to those aiming to make profit.

3. Let chance do the rest of the work.

Of course you can't just go on placing bets forever. The dealer will have to announce an end to the wagering, after which he spins the wheel and eventually rolls the ball along a track near the rim. Now the wheel has 37 to 38 numbered slots on which the ball may possibly land. These slots are what players bet on in the roulette board, and wherever the ball lands on determines which bet wins.

4. Additional rules in European roulette.

There are a couple extra rules in European and French roulette, both of which can be invoked if the ball lands on zero after a spin. If this condition is satisfied, the player may be given to put his bet "En Prison", or let his entire bet remain in the table for the next spin. Otherwise, the player may wish to put to play the "La Partage" rule, where he may recover half of his losing bets.

Here ends our short tutorial on how to play roulette. As you can see, roulette is a rather easy to play, and is quite a fast-paced casino game. Add to that the thrill in every spin, and you can say that roulette is one ideal boredom killer.

3 Blackjack Myths That You Should Never Believe

Plenty of blackjack myths heavily affect the player's performance. Instead of winning, it is the other way around that happens. Moreover, it ends up with players blaming one another.

The third base position

More often than not, blackjack players fear or avoid the last seat to the left. This is because of the strong belief that whoever takes that seat will heavily affect the whole game. If the game does not turn out well, such player is often thought as the one who caused the unfavorable odds and vice versa. Due to this, there is some sort of an unwritten rule that only veteran players can take that seat-the ones who are more experienced and can secure a sure win even without lifting a finger.

Yet, on a closer look, it can be seen that this belief has no basis at all. The winning possibilities of each player cannot be influenced by another. This is purely independent. If there is one thing that will surely affect or impact the game, it is the player's skills and expertise, not his seat.

The bad luck magnet

Players who employ a different strategy or do not use a strategy at all are often referred to as the bad luck magnet. It is for this reason that other blackjack enthusiasts avoid this player. They want to stay away from the possibility of experiencing a losing streak once they played with this individual.

In as much as the seat can barely affect the game's outcome and so is the strategy used by another. If they are bad luck magnet because of the weak technique that they use or because of not using one, they will not affect the game's outcome for the rest of the group. If there is anyone who will most likely suffer from this, it is no other than the "bad luck magnet" alone.

Stealing one's card

Is it really possible to steal the card of another in blackjack? Well according to some players, if another member makes an immediate hit right after receiving a card, the latter's act is believed to be stealing what is supposed to be given to another player. For example, if player A hits and receives the Ace- a card needed by player B to get a natural-myth believers will immediately think that player A stole player's B card.

Once and for all, the first player has nothing to do with how the cards are distributed. They have no control over it. Thus, "stealing" in this case is just a made-up scenario or belief. Come to think of it, if the allegedly "stolen" card will cause player B to bust, the latter will not describe player's A hit as stealing.

These myths have been preventing players from getting the most of blackjack. Beliefs with no scientific basis at all do not yield results. Blackjack aficionados must know how to establish their own strategies and techniques.

How To Select a Good General Contractor, Construction Company or Remodeling Contractor

The best way to select a possible building contractor from a those you find online, is to get references from the company, and call those references.

It is not a good idea to hire a contractor that does not have references on their web site. Also make sure that the references are in your area, not in other areas where the people assigned to doing the work may have been different. For example, if you live in Queens, New York, speak to references in Queens, New York about their experience with a building contractor.

Once you have found a good building contractor with references, meet with them and look for rapport between you and them and observe their level of professionalism, respect, and punctuality. Then, review the quality of their work and ask to see photos of past projects. Make sure that they have plenty of experience with the specific type of work, for example don't hire a contractor to do outdoor concrete or paving stone work if they only have experience with indoor remodeling. Also make sure that they select the best quality materials, this can make a huge difference in the longevity of the finished product,a nd you will be much happier in the long run if the contractor uses the best quality materials.

Here's a checklist of things to consider when selecting your contractor.

* Check for good references from prior experience working with contractor.

* Be sure they are licensed in your local area.

* Make sure the building contractor is insured.

* Make sure they have been in business more than 10 years doing the same type of construction.

* Make sure you know their physical business address, not just a PO Box.

* Verify that they specialize in the work you want performed.

* Beyond a verbal estimate, be sure to get a detailed description of the scope of work

* Check the number of projects the contractor has going at the same time.

* What margin does your contractor take to provide materials?

* Never go on a vacation and leave contractors to work on your home on their own. Even with builders you trust, it's better that they are available.

* Listen to the ways the contractor and the subcontractors talk with each other.

* Get a sense of how they respect each other and work together.

If you follow all of these guidelines, you will be able to choose a general contractor that will successfully and dependably complete your project.

How To Renovate on a Budget

If you want to become a property developer, you need to be smart when buying a property. You should get all of the relevant checks done before you buy, including structural surveys and electrical testing. If major works such as electrics or structural repairs need carrying out then it is best to get a professional in and budget accordingly - there's nothing better at killing a renovation project than getting a big bill that you didn't expect.

If you know what you are getting in to, you should only be left with the smaller jobs. Funding property development can be tricky, but it is a lot easier if you only have to budget for the following:

Painting

Painting is a straightforward and simple job for improving the look of a room. For the best finish always strip walls of any wallpaper. Make sure you fill in any holes or cracks, sand the wall down, and then paint your prepared surface. This may be time-consuming but it's a lot cheaper than plastering - and this can give the impression of fresh plastering. You can buy "trade" tubs of paint which are larger than standard tins of paint, and often don't cost much more than standard size tins. It's worth getting a tester though, as some trade paints are thinner than regular, which leads to poor coverage. This is a waste of time, as you will need to apply two or more coats - which also causes you to use more paint than necessary. Also, always use matt rather than silk paint as you get a much better finish and blemishes are harder to see!

Flooring

Carpet is usually the cheapest way to refresh the flooring in a property, but if you have no experience with putting carpets down it's time to call in a professional. I always go for the cheapest plain beige/light brown carpet, and you can usually get away with no underlay. In the kitchen and bathrooms go for vinyl instead of expensive tiles.

Kitchen

Shop around and get the cheapest flat-packed kitchen you can buy. You don't need to put expensive appliances in, you can always obtain appliances second-hand at a fraction of the cost. Remember, the appliances are not necessarily to be sold with the property. You can make the kitchen look more expensive by getting nice handles or a great work surface.

Bathroom

Bathrooms can usually be bought for less than you think - a basic bath, basin and toilet are very cheap to buy. If you can't fit the bathroom yourself, get a local handyman to do it for you - a handyman is usually faster and cheaper than a plumber. When it comes to tiling then either have a go yourself or get the handyman back in!

Garden

The best plan is to use the resources you have available - so just tidy up what is there. Trimming back trees and bushes can have an amazing effect on the look of a garden. You should make the garden one of your first jobs as it can take a few weeks to turn yellow grass green again! Failing all else, take up any grass and lay new turf yourself - you will often find growers selling turf in your local area via Google or the Yellow Pages.

Hopefully this should give you a few ideas on keeping your budget down when you are trying to fund a property renovation!

The Top 5 Reasons to Remove Your Acoustic Ceiling

#1 - Asthetics - The biggest reason to get rid of acoustic ceilings is that they just look terrible. Most people do not like the way popcorn ceilings look. In fact, this style is so disliked that in many cases it can bring down the value of a home, or even turn people away from buying it. This is especially true in more "trendy" cities or neighborhoods. Over the years, the ceiling will also become dusty and acquire stains which cannot be removed unless the entire ceiling is redone. Because the texture is difficult to paint over, some homes have color walls with white ceilings, which only emphasizes the ugliness of it. And if the owners do decide to paint, the fragile nature of the material limits the number of layers that can be coated on. Too much thick paint can weigh down the ceiling and cause parts of it to fall. The simple solution for a more versatile ceiling is to scrape off the surface of the popcorn ceiling and give it a smooth finish. This will give it a more appealing look that can more easily be changed according to taste.

#2 - Health - These types of ceilings are very dirty and dusty. Over years acoustic ceilings collect dust and dirt and there is no way to really clean it. Painting over it doesn't clean it either, it helps trap dirt in and it starts building more and ruins the ceiling. The dust that collects can be inhaled by the inhabitants, causing health problems. Because the material these ceilings are made from is very fragile, every time it is disturbed, small particles are released into the air. This is not only a health threat, but can get your floors dirty as well. The only way to clean acoustic ceilings is to remove them and then you're replacing it with something that's not going to collect dust. So you're taking a porous surface and turning it into a smooth, cleanable surface.

#3 - Allergies - Allergies go down substantially once the acoustic ceiling has been removed. Everything that you've been allergic to gets caught up in the acoustic and if you have allergens in your ceiling you can't get away from it. Dust mites is the most common trigger of allergies, and it tends to get stuck in the nooks and crannies of the ceiling. Dusting or vacuuming can help, but is rarely completely efficient. And often times when attempting to clean, the surface is disturbed and particles are released into the air making matters worse. With a flat surface, you can rest easily knowing that allergens have one less place to hide.

#4 - Smells - Acoustic ceilings trap in smells were created because they absorb sound. Unfortunately, they also absorb smells. This can be particularly problematic in the kitchen where the ceiling is frequently exposed to an array of strong odors from cooking. Smoke and steam deliver the smells straight to the ceiling where it becomes trapped for a long time. Another big problem comes from people who smoke indoors. This not only gives the ceiling a disturbing smell, but an ugly yellow tint as well. Once smells get trapped there is really no way to get rid of them, except to get rid of the entire ceiling completely and give it a fresh finish.

#5 - Out Dated - Popcorn ceilings were popular in the 60′s and 70′s because of their noise reduction properties. But the truth is soft carpets and solid doors are much more effective, especially in single floor homes. Realizing this, people began opting for more modern styles. Since the 80′s, the vast majority of homes do not have popcorn ceilings. The stippled effect can look especially out of place if a home has had other renovations.

5 Tips to Help You Win at Roulette and Make a Profit

Roulette is ultimately the symbol of casino gambling, alongside familiar card games like poker and blackjack. It rightfully deserves to be such, given how popular it is with gamblers and what big-earning casino cash cow every single roulette table is. Even after over two centuries of existence, it simply keeps on getting more and more well-known, never fading away.

As of present, roulette can also be played on the Internet via online casinos. This made the game a lot more accessible, particularly to just about anybody hooked up to the Internet and has the means to purchase things online - and there weren't a few. This new trend has spawned various articles detailing tips and tricks on winning roulette, as well as various roulette software that promises guaranteed wins or - realistically - increased chances of winning the game.

Of course we have our own set of tips for this matter. These may not guarantee that you win at roulette, but it should help increase your chances of making profit in the game.

1. Play with strategy.

Roulette strategies do not refer to where or how you should place your chips on the board - it means having a pattern of increasing or decreasing your bet, depending on the situation. These strategies can be found all over the Internet, so there'd be no need to detail each of them here. Be advised however that they usually come free and you shouldn't pay to learn them, and that you shouldn't view them as tools that can guarantee your win.

2. Play European or French roulette.

European and French roulette are known to have the best winning odds of all roulette variants. This is due to the fact that they both have only one zero slot while American roulette and its derivatives have two - the former is thus advantageous if you're into single bets. In addition, European and French roulette have a house edge - the casino's cuts from your actual win - of 2.7% compared to the others' 5.3%.

3. Do even number bets.

You may win big when you bet on individual numbers on the board, but you can win a whole lot easier when you place your stakes on red, black, odd or even. Combine this with a good betting strategy and you'll be able to win at roulette and make profit, provided that Lady Luck doesn't hate you enough.

4. Save your winnings.

Spend only the amount you have set apart for roulette. Should you ever win, immediately withdraw your profits if there is any. Never tap into your wins if you've already spent your original bankroll.

5. Know when to stop.

It's easy to lose track of time and money when playing roulette. That said you should keep a close watch on how much you are spending. Profit or no, if you've found out that you've exhausted your original bankroll, immediately end the game and do not attempt to recover your losses. Sure, you may win if you keep going, but there also is at least 50% chance of loss and a bigger probability of entering a losing streak.

You can increase your odds of winning if you follow these tips. However, everything is futile if you don't have the key element that can make you win at roulette: luck.

What Should You Ask Your Contractor About Your Bathroom Remodel?

One of the best ways to make a noticeable change in your entire home is to remodel one or more of your bathrooms. Although the process may seem a little intimidating at first, you can make everything go as smoothly as possible by asking the right questions before you get started. If you want to avoid unnecessary interruptions and confusions throughout the process, you will to make a list of important points to discuss with your contractor before they even start the job. Here are a few things that you should talk about:

What Type of Remodel Do you Want?

Before you even pick up the phone to start shopping for a contractor, think about what type of remodel that you want. A simple remodel can consist of a new coat of paint and new fixtures, while a complete bathroom overhaul is much more extensive. Decide how extensive you want your remodel to be, determine your budget and then call your contractor to talk about the specifics. They will be able to help guide you through the process from there.

How Much Will It Cost?

While this is a very important aspect of conducting a remodel, you should always make sure to balance cost with the quality of your contractor. You will want to choose someone who is reliable, skilled and has extensive experience working with bathroom remodels. That being said, make sure that you talk with your chosen bathroom remodeling company about the total cost of the project. They should be able to provide you with at least a very close estimate to what the total cost should be. Some will even provide you with a firm bid after doing a full assessment. Always be up front with how much you have to spend on any given project, so that you can be on the same page from start to finish.

How Long Will It Take?

In addition to a cost estimate, you should also ask your builder for a time estimate. While a simple bathroom remodel could take just a few hours, a total overhaul could take several weeks. Because the bathroom is a very important room in your home, you will want to have a fairly clear idea of how long it will be until you can use it again. After you have an idea of how long it will take, come up with a plan to make sharing the other bathroom or bathrooms in your home much easier while you remodel.

In the end, completing a hassle free bathroom remodel relies on constant, clear and honest communication from both you and your contractor. To make sure that you are getting what you want, at a price within your budget, you must communicate these needs to them. Because your bathroom is such an important room in your home, you can't afford to be vague, unsure or silent about any of the aspects of the remodel. If you follow these tips, and work closely with your chosen remodeling expert, you can expect a bathroom remodel that meets your expectations from start to finish.

Adding a Basement Bar

Installing a bar in your basement can be a great way to create a fun, relaxing party or get-together area separate from the rest of your home. It can free up space in the kitchen and living room and help you to entertain your guests in comfort and with ease. If you have a finished basement, or are looking into finishing yours, adding a bar to your hosting area could be the touch that really helps you to put that space to use.

The Specifics

There are a few things you need to consider before going ahead with the project, including whether or not you would like a wet bar. A "wet bar" simply has a sink, which can make your life much easier in the long run, but also will require all the work and expenses that installing plumbing in a new part of your home can include. Other considerations include the height (you may want to first consider what type or chairs or stools you would like to place around it) and general dimensions. Some questions you should ask yourself when choosing a size include whether you will be preparing food and drinks here and whether guests be eating meals here.

Countertop Options

One of the more fun decisions you will need to make is how you would like the countertop to look. This is important because this surface will be one of the first places the eye is drawn to. Popular options include granite, quartz, concrete, and stainless steel. If your basement is already finished, consider what will fit in with the rest of the room. If not, think about what sort of theme you would like to develop.

Granite is the classic choice; it is elegant as well as long lasting and would be a beautiful accent to almost any design.

Quartz combines incredible durability with beauty. It is the densest and most durable of the options, and it also comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns.

Concrete is a great option for those who would like to achieve a modern or funky look. Because concrete is particularly customizable, this might be the perfect choice if you need an unconventional shape.

Stainless steel can give a room a very clean, contemporary look, or add a unique industrial element to a more rustic space.

Once your bar is installed, enjoy your new entertainment zone! Remember, if it is a wet bar it could also be a great place to prep for outdoor parties, dinner parties, and more.

Chimney Relining In Your Home

Having the best chimney in your neighborhood doesn't literally mean that you will have it forever. As precious moments goes along the faded spaces of time, a chimney's beauty will soon be impaired and overused if not in the manner of maintaining it properly. This will somehow then lead to deterioration. If not maintained properly, you just have to expect that hazardous conditions will inflict and affect your house and the people living within it. The degeneration of brickwork and mason as well as the cracking of the tiles increases the risk of toxic and unhealthy gases to gain access into your house. If that unlikely situation happens, you would be left with no other choice but to either restore the whole presented chimney and reconstruct your own or reline it with a stronger one actually made with finer materials.

The process of relining your chimney needs careful consideration and involves accurate measurement. But before that, it would be wiser to have your old chimneys be checked by a professional competent person before being put back into use. In this way, repairs and the other works to be necessarily made are identified properly. Chimneys that are considered old must be referred to by a competent professional person so as to determine which parts of the chimney needs fixing.Other than that, you should also try to check out the liner that what you think is best for your chimney. The first thing about fixing your chimney liner is to check the inside dimensions of the flue. For smooth walls, it is better to provide liners that are rigid or if it depends upon your choice, a flexible liner.

There are quite a lot of facts to consider if owners think about installing fires and wood burning stoves into their abode with the concern of having it done safely and in a correct manner. There would be just a little reason for installing a stove if it's not going to operate safely or efficiently. In this way, it has the ability to offer warmth and a humid flame to the room where it's set up. It is strongly advisable also to have your chimney liner insulated to have a better draft and to achieve a chimney that stays cleaner in a long period of time. Bear in mind that when there is no correct chimney lining, fires may be the one to be the reason for trouble for the chimney and may stop the wood burning stove from functioning effectively. Other than that, the conventional flues which were placed into the chimney and then packed around with solid could not have abscond an adequate room to put off smoke coming back down the chimney, present flue liners present a significantly more useful and flexible resolution as they go behind the outlines of the chimney.

In choosing a chimney liner, you may choose upon the type of pipe you would want in yours. But bear in mind that it must not always rely on your choice but of the professional as well. You may know a lot about chimneys except the way it works. You don't have to pressure your own if you think about relining the chimney yourself. Before asking the help of a professional, take down the measurements first before sending it to the reliable chimney fixer. You have to properly secure the condition of your roof or the way that it is situated because it is also one way that affects the relining of your chimney. Inside the chimney, there is what we call installation. It starts with extricating any impediments that may be inside your chimney. When you install a chimney liner that is proper not just to your chimney but to your home in general, owners will finally be able to harvest the primary benefits of the beautiful heat resistant property. It means that the heat formed by the gases which passes throughout the chimney are neatly sustained and shall not be the source of any unwanted issues in terms of escape of heat. After looking for the correct size liner for the job, the parts that are required must be prepared before starting it. More importantly, it is better to be secured of a better lasting chimney by a professional person to install a chimney liner.

Fires and flooding are any home's worst opponent. The property destruction and possible physical injuries they cause is usually harmful for the whole family. Relocating to a different home or a short-term shelter may make the situation far more stressful. Unless the incident demolished your house, however, there is an opportunity to recover your property. Water and fire restoration may help you restore your house so you won't need to transfer your family to a new residence.

Fire Damage and Restoration

A fire could burn the whole residential home to the ground. It can cause a number of sorts of destruction, from visible smoke and burn damage to chemical compound responses. A few of your home's inner components could sustain high temperature damage, even when the fire never got close to them. The fire extinguishing process could also cause significant water damage, as huge fire require gallons of water to put out.

Even when you can take care of minimal fire damage and smoke staining all on your own, significant damage demands the attention of an expert. Fire clean up and repair crews may help reduce the odor left by soot and burnt items, clean soot from electronics and furnishings, eliminate hazardous fumes or chemicals, and help fix your home's structures. They might also reassess your house and renovate it so it will be less vulnerable to fire.

Water Damage and Restoration

Water is often as harmful as fire. Although it cannot reduce your entire dwelling to ashes, extreme water pressure can certainly crush solid structures and formidable water currents can carry your furnishings and other belongings away. Water can certainly destroy gadgets and power sockets, deteriorate and damage wooden components, and damage carpeting and wallpapers. Soaked objects and structures will also be vulnerable to fungus development, which is often dangerous to your family's well being.

Specialized emergency flood damage restoration companies may not restore the things a flood carried away, but they may help get your dwelling back. Their solutions may eliminate nasty smells the floodwater left behind, prevent the development of mildew and mold by drying out your soaked carpeting and spraying them with fungicide, dry out and clean your soaked draperies and upholstered household furniture, and restore the beauty of your wood floors.

Hiring a Restoration Company

When selecting a repair firm, check if they have all the qualifications and approval from your state's Department of Consumer Affairs, or the state's contractors license board. This proves they have the relevant skills and equipment to do restorations adequately.

Locate companies that have working experience fixing the kind of property you possess. Clean up processes for a big apartment might not be exactly like fixing a townhouse. Have a home builder or real estate property advisor analyze the seriousness and type of destruction your property sustained. Try to find companies that managed very similar damage before. That way, they'll know precisely how to proceed and how to get it done.

Your damaged house and remaining belongings are at risk of theft. Ensure the firm you work with is reliable and won't make an attempt to steal any of your belongings during the recovery procedure.

How to Pick A Fighter to Bet on in the MMA

I regularly bet on MMA fights including every UFC event and I have learned a lot about handicapping mixed martial arts in the past few years. My goal in this article is to teach interested individuals how to pick a fighter to bet on in the MMA.

Watch the Odds

I can't stress enough how important it is to watch the odds. UFC odds are released very early and often times bettors have weeks or months to wager on the big fights. In that time the odds change based on how much action a bookmaker receives. One fighter may "open" as a favourite of -110, but by the time the fight starts he may be a -200 favourite.

If you don't understand odds -110 means you'd need to bet $11 to win $10 whereas -200 odds equate to the bettor needing to wager $20 to win $10. Obviously betting the fighter in the example above at -110 is much more profitable over the long-run regardless of whether the fighter wins or not.

Ensuring that you get the best odds is one of the main parts of becoming a successful MMA handicapper. There are numerous free odds comparison tools online that I use and you can use as well when trying to find the best UFC odds to bet on.

Understand the Fighters History

Countless bettors in the UFC don't have a clue about what they're doing and they simply bet on the big names in the promotion that have been hyped up through the years. The problem with this strategy is that most veterans in the UFC at this point are way past their prime and they don't win consistently like they used too.

There are several sites that track every fighters record and fights. You can see when and where the fighter has fought recently and this type of information will allow even the most casual fans to learn how fighters have performed recently. Recent form is huge in MMA and if your fighter isn't in good form you should move on to better bets.

When looking at a fighters history you should also see how they win/lose most of their fights. Do they always win by decision or is the fighter able to win most of his fights by stoppage? Does the fighter always get KO'ed or submitted? These types of questions need to be answered before placing a wager on any fighter in the UFC.

Don't Be Scared to Parlay

In most sports you'll read that you shouldn't parlay bets together. This is the correct strategy in sports with point spreads, but not in MMA. Parlays are your best friend in MMA because they allow you to bet the big favourites without risking a huge amount of juice. Favourites often lose, but losing a parlay because of a favourite stings much less than losing a straight bet with a huge favourite.

I never advise betting on fighters straight-up when the odds are above -250 in MMA. If the odds are higher than -250 you should find another strong favourite that you like to parlay with your initial pick. This will increase the payout odds and lower the amount of juice that you need to risk on your wager.

What I don't recommend doing is betting on parlays and nothing else. If you have a few underdog picks you like make sure you don't just parlay them together. Always bet the underdogs you like straight-up. Winning 1-2 of your underdog picks could equate to a good night depending upon the odds, but obviously a parlay wouldn't win.

Understand Other Types of MMA Bets

I know that you want to learn how to pick a fighter to bet on in the MMA, but sometimes you should be looking at other profitable wagers instead. Betting on the over/under on how long a fight will last is popular, but I prefer betting on fighters to win by TKO/KO or submission.

If I know a fighter is going to try and submit his opponent and he's capable of doing so I'll wager on the fighter to win by submission at plus money odds. The odds will payout much more than if I bet on the fighter to win straight-up. There is more risk because the only way you win the bet is if the fighter wins by the method you pick, but the payout odds make it worthwhile in the long run.

Upgrading the Bathrooms, Kitchen and Other Living Areas

Bathrooms -
As a general rule, shy away from upgrading the bathrooms unless maybe it's the master bathroom. The thinking behind this is that non-master bathrooms are just bit players in comparison to the main star, which most certainly is the master bathroom. Upgrades for the master bathroom are best focused on flooring and possibly countertops. Try not to spend more than $2,000 to $3,000 in total for the master bathroom. While a standard item for many bathrooms are quarter-inch cluster marble or 4x4 white tile on the countertops, if you have to pick between the bathroom countertops or flooring, which is typically vinyl, it should probably be the flooring. Think about having the floor tile laid diagonally or staggered, since that adds a little "pop" to the flooring and gives it a premium feel for minimum costs or no cost at all.

Kitchens -
Besides the bathrooms, the kitchen is obviously the numero uno location to make your most substantial upgrades. Similar to the master bathroom, going with an upgraded kitchen countertop will be well advised, along with flooring. Try your best in avoiding upgraded cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, costly kitchen or bathroom faucet ware, such as Moen or Kohler, and full backsplash upgrades in tile or granite. These items, just to name a few, are high-profit ticket items that help developers make a lot of gravy. This is especially so in the bathrooms and kitchens. So when tempted to upgrade like it's 1999, take a deep breath, control yourself, and just walk away.

Other Living Areas -
Although one could probably go on and on about what to get and what not to get, other items to give consideration to, if the cost is nominal, include extended entry floor work from the front door. This type of floor work gives the impression of a more grandiose entry and creates a promenade-like feeling as one enters his own home. Also, while we're on flooring, having the granite laid diagonally is an added plus and usually requires very little in terms of cost. I've gotten a diagonal floor laid with twenty inch tile in standard flooring areas of the home for only $200 to $600 in additional labor cost. This type of upgrade can add a lot of pop for nominal cost. So really think about it.

In connection with outfitting the home with appliance ware, many builders now offer black-on-black appliances as a standard. If you find yourself in a situation where the developer doesn't offer this as a standard, then paying an additional $300 to $500 for an upgraded kitchen with a black-on-black kitchen package is well worth it. More enticing, a stainless steel facade on all the appliances might only cost a couple of hundred dollars extra. Once again, this might be well worth it depending upon the overall design schematic and the motif that you're attempting to achieve. Keep in mind that over-designing can be a detriment as well. Being subtle but crisp, clean, and elegant is the more circumspect route.

Other upgraded items that are real deal busters and should be avoided include faucet ware. These items, although pretty, sometimes have a costly depreciative drag on the net proceeds of a flip. Net draggers also include four-to-six-inch baseboards, crown molding, two-tone paint throughout, 7/8-inch foam carpet padding instead of the standard 2/8-inch padding, luxurious gourmet kitchen and washer/dryer, upgraded packages, expensive flooring such as Berber carpet, extended wood flooring throughout, elongated forty-nine-inch cabinets, pebble-tech driveways, window blinds, shutters, granite full backsplashes, alarm systems, surround stereo systems, etc. All of these should be avoided if possible, unless they're at a very nominal cost.

The bottom line is that items like these in the aggregate, have a negative drag on the net proceeds, and that's what should be kept in mind before you open your checkbook. For this reason, and from a pure investment perspective, the latter-mentioned upgrades would be better off left alone. These items are guaranteed to shrink your margin and increase your frustration when your expected net profit from your flip candidates is marginalized.

Why Should I Hire a Professional Demolition Contractor?

Even if you aren't a construction expert, you're probably confident in your ability to destroy things. You can unscrew screws, hammer away at walls and molding, and generally demolish deteriorating structures. But do you know how to do all of that while avoiding personal injury and structural collapse? Do you know how to clean the site afterward and how to dispose of all demolition materials? That's where a professional demolition contractor comes in. This type of construction expert knows what safety precautions to take and how to handle demolition in the fastest, most efficient manner. And that's not the only benefit of working with a pro. Consider your demolition needs and experience and hire an expert who will take the weight off your shoulders-literally.

Safety Considerations

Removing large structures or items from your property isn't easy, and it can be dangerous. Tearing apart a wooden structure can result in splinters and nails flying. Certain items might be heavier than you realize, and removing them improperly can result in you dropping them on yourself or someone else nearby. Small injuries are frustrating and can slow down the demolition process, while larger injuries can result in a trip to the emergency room. And personal injury during demolition isn't the only safety consideration. Poorly executed demolition-for instance, removing structural supports too soon-can create a risk of collapse, which can put your family or other building occupants in danger. Demolition contractors are trained to remove objects safely and in an appropriate order. Plus, they'll clean up the space to ensure no hazards remain after demolition.

Property Considerations

A collapse during demolition isn't just dangerous-it can also add to the overall cost of the project. What if you accidentally demolish something you'd intended to leave standing? What if you scratch up walls and floors removing large items from the building? The more damage you inflict upon your own property, the more money you'll spend fixing everything afterward. A professional demolition contractor, meanwhile, is trained to demolish only what needs to go and to protect the rest of your space in the process. He or she can advise you on any necessary changes to your plan and assess the structures that remain for soundness, so you don't rebuild on top of a damaged base.

Cleanup and Disposal

Do you know your local laws for disposing of construction debris? What about large items such as hot tubs, appliances, and countertops? And even if you've done your research, do you really want to devote extra hours to driving back and forth to the dump and recycling center with load after load? Some demolition contractors offer trash removal services, meaning that they'll load all of the construction debris and unwanted furnishings into a dumpster or truck and remove that trash from your property. Hiring a company to handle site cleanup frees you up to focus on your next step: rebuilding.

On top of these major considerations, demolition contractors are simply more efficient than you would be on your own. Organized and safe demolition is their job. The experience of working on many different sites means they'll be able to walk onto your property and create an immediate plan of action. So next time you're remodeling your bathroom, tearing down that shed in the backyard, or removing your back patio to add a deck, bring in a professional demolition contractor and breathe easier.

Home Improvement: Ways Granite Can Be Used Around the Home

Granite is a material that is mined from beneath the earth's surface, and is well-known and well-received for its durability and resistance to a number of different elements and conditions. In the home, granite is a very popular surface type to use for kitchen countertops, but did you know that it can also be used in several other different ways? Here are a few examples of other ways, besides kitchen counters, that granite is utilized by homeowners.

Fireplace surrounds are items that are increasingly seeing the benefit of granite use. Because granite is heat resistant, this is a great material to have in this position. Not only that, but the use of granite for a fireplace surround also adds to its look. Because granite can come in a multitude of different patterns and colors -- depending on where it is mined -- you can get the look you prefer for your surround and make sure it looks good with the rest of the room that your fireplace is located in.

Another place granite can be utilized is in the bathroom, either as a sink counter or as a complete surround for a bathtub. When you walk into a room with the latter use, your eyes can be instantly drawn to the tub and the patterned and colored granite that it sits in. Granite won't be damaged by any splashes or puddles, or by the hottest water temperatures, which makes it a great material to use in such a situation.

If you're into the outdoors, one thing you can consider building is an outdoor kitchen. And, of course, the best countertop type you can use when constructing this unique home feature is a granite countertop. As stated with the fireplace surround example, this surface is resistant to heat and can sit out in the hot sun all day without any ill effects. And, much like a bathtub surround, water won't have any negative effects on the counter, either, meaning your outdoor kitchen counter will stand up to the elements that Mother Nature throws at it.

These are just some of the other ways that granite can be used in the home. Remember; it isn't just for kitchen countertops. If you need a strong surface that can stand up to a number of different stressors, granite might be the choice for you. Get in touch with a local granite fabricator to see what kind of products they can make for you.

Tips For Avoiding Common Home Remodel Headaches

Home remodeling is an investment of both time and money with the end goal generally being to create extra space, increase in property value, or to redesign a current room into more usable space. Before making an investment, the following tips should be considered.

Tips For Avoiding Common Home Remodel Headaches:

  1. Once you set a budget, don't deviate from it. As the remodel process commences, numerous people will be working on your home. Each will have ideas that may seem like a good idea, but each new idea means additional spending. Homeowners can find themselves going thousands of dollars over budget before they realize what has happened. Consider as many options as you need to before you begin work, then stick to your plan.

  2. Be prepared for the unexpected - even with new houses. Many people think because their house is new it's in perfect condition. What it usually means is no one has lived there long enough to discover any problems. Some problems may include termites in walls, needing to rewire a room, water damage or mold behind walls. While a budget is set for work, a buffer should be set aside for any unavoidable repairs or fixes that need to be made during the process. If an owner is not prepared, stress and tension can result as well as a slow-down in the process.

  3. Don't ignore permits. While obtaining permits can be a lengthy, drawn-out process, they are necessary - not just for the city to know who is building what, but also to ensure homeowners safety. Some permits have to do with structural integrity, size and to keep property values high. A qualified general contractor can ensure you get the proper permits and make sure the entire process runs smoothly.

  4. Don't follow trends. While silver may be the new black this year in design, or open cabinets instead of closed, trends don't last. In five to ten years your house may look completely out of date, devaluing your property when you decide to sell. Instead stay with a classic look that will stand the test of time.

  5. Use quality materials. The old saying 'you get what you pay for' couldn't be truer when it comes to home building or remodeling. Cheap materials mean you'll most likely be replacing them in a few years. If you can't afford a remodel with quality materials, wait until you can. The result will last a lot longer.

  6. Go green. Energy star appliances save money over time, but they also increase the resale value of your home. This is also true for green materials and energy efficient designs.

  7. Keep your improvements in-line with your neighborhood. If you are the biggest house on the block, you won't get the same property value you would if you were in a neighborhood where larger houses were the norm. Property values are based on the average cost of a home in the area. Putting expensive finishing touches on a home in a neighborhood where houses are furnished minimally won't give you a return on your investment. Buyers are going to wonder why your home is so overpriced.

  8. Be careful with DIY projects. Many people underestimate the expertise needed for a successful remodel. Projects get started or not finished, or in worse case scenarios unnecessary damage is done that costs more to fix than the entire project. If you want to undertake a remodel project make sure you have the expertise to do it the right way.

Enjoy your home. Whether you are fixing up your home for improved livability or to sell, make sure you have a space you like living in.

Mobile Casinos - A Revolution in the World of Gambling

Smart phones have made not only work but entertainment very convenient. Now there is no need to bear long, tiring travels and book expensive hotels just to visit a casino. Many Mobile Casinos have been in operation since last year and provide a proper gambling experience right in the palm of your hand. The most attractive aspect of the entertainment capital of the world is now just a click away!

Mobile gambling games are now widely available for iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Windows mobile phones. However, the former two systems are compatible with a larger number of online casino games as compared to the latter two. The same games can also be played on one's tablet and personal computer.
The important factor that needs to be considered before playing mobile casino games is the choice of software. The operating system is the most significant because it needs to support the game. On tablets Adobe Flash support is also highly important as well.

Some games involve gambling real money through credit cards, whereas others are free and played just for fun. The banking section will inform users about whether they will be able to invest real money in these games or not. In 2006 the Unites States banned all online gambling which brought about a mega reduction in the funds generated by this industry. However, the laws have been relaxed in recent years and these games have gained popularity again. Outside of the United States of America, all countries have their own rules and regulations. Finland's own government departments are in charge of online gambling and the Norwegian legislation prohibits all forms of mobile casinos.

Most popular games available include Slots, Bingo, Roulette, Blackjack, Poker and Bingo.

The word gambling usually has a negative connotation attached with it. People relate it to wastage of money and addiction. However, now-a-days it is found to be one of the most popular forms of entertainment and relaxation techniques. After a long day of work, all the mind wants to do is relax. Hence what could be better than kicking back on the couch and playing a casino game on your phone or tablet? Like all activities, it has its fair share of pros and cons. Although mobile casinos contribute positively to economy of a country, they also promote lack of self-discipline like the non-virtual form of gambling. This loss of control can easily transcend to other activities like drinking and anger management issues. Mobile casinos although, have a lesser chance of promoting further unlawful and unhealthy activities since they are being accessed from the ease of one's own home or workplace and don't provide an artificial setting like the Sin city.

Need-To-Know Pointers for Home Renovation of Old Houses

While not every home owner has the time, energy, or desire to renovate an old house, some people get great joy out of renewing a priceless piece of history. Home renovation is in itself a challenge, and this challenge is certainly greater when you're working on an old house. There are significant challenges that need consideration before embarking on such a large project; but if you're up to the task, the rewards are awesome.

The pros of old home renovation

Old houses generally possess far more personality and style than most houses built today. The craftsmanship of older homes is also often outstanding, and much of the work will be unique and one-of-a-kind. This stellar craftsmanship and good quality deserve to be preserved.

The materials used in older homes also tend to be of a much higher quality than those used today. From solid hardwood floors, to quality masonry, to hand-carved woodworking, you're getting quality that has stood the test of time - and that can promise many more years with a little care and effort.

The cons of old home renovation

While some gorgeous work can be found in old houses, older home renovation can often reveal some nasty - and even hazardous - surprises.

Asbestos was used in insulation in many old homes, and this can pose a health risk if it's not handled properly. There may also be traces of lead paint or lead used throughout the home's plumbing system. Wiring and plumbing may be severely out-dated, requiring a considerable amount of work. Heating and cooling systems will generally need to be replaced altogether if they have not been well maintained.

Know what you're tackling with old home renovation

The best thing you can do if you're serious about renovating an old house is to talk to a contractor. They can give you a realistic look at what you're taking on, as well as the prices attached to the various tasks. A professional will be better aware of the potential hidden problems and can point you to the most efficient solutions.

Know your architecture and time periods

If you're serious about preserving the integrity and beauty of an old home, take time to learn about the architecture and style of the time period in which the house was built. Old home renovation can turn out some stunning results, but you'll have the best outcome if you understand the original character of the house.

Old wood floors can be restored to warm, lustrous beauty, retaining all the character of age. Highlight the depth and age of the wood and let its character shine.

While you may not be able to match the original materials used in the original construction, try as much as possible to closely reflect the original styles, textures, and appearance throughout your home renovation. If your home's walls are an antique, natural plaster, don't cover up the beauty with a garish color from a paint sprayer. Try whenever possible to maintain the integrity of the original design.

Of course, you'll also want to integrate your own personality and style throughout the house. As you hunt for antique fixtures, furniture, and other pieces that reflect the style of your house, don't shy away from a piece you love just because it's not from the same era. The final product of your old home renovation should be a beautiful mixture of the old and the new, and a place you and your family can call home.

Living It Up in a Mobile Casino

Gambling is an activity that practically everybody loves. The adventure, the drama, and the adrenaline involved in games like poker and, blackjack, and craps is enough to get anyone high. Winning makes people feel like champions and losing just makes them come back for more. Casinos are a den of fun, risks, and adventure.

However, not everyone can afford to travel to casinos every time they feel the urge to gamble. Jobs, household duties, responsibilities, and commitments are there for everyone and cannot be ignored. People can't just drop everything and fly to Vegas all the time. The financial burden alone would be a major problem. Even a winning streak wouldn't be able to cover the travel expenses for gambling addicts living far away from casinos. This also applies to areas that do not allow casinos in their jurisdictions.

Another evolution step in this industry has been taken. Now, gaming companies have made mobile casinos. These allow people to gamble anywhere and anytime they want. These are especially convenient for businessmen who have to travel a lot. They can sneak bets on their mobile casino accounts during boring meetings, even! That is surely a blessing for the business community. These casinos can be downloaded from the internet to smartphones. Usually, online casino and mobile casino accounts can be linked together.

In these games, players play with real money and their winnings are transferred to their accounts. The registration is simple and easy. All you need to do is write your credit card and account details in the registration process, which is usually online. Don't worry about security, but do be careful to only use reputed mobile casinos.

These casinos allow you to interact with players all around the world on a 24/7 basis. Plus, you won't miss the glamour of live casinos. Mobile casinos provide you with a virtual environment similar to Vegas casinos. So, you can enjoy the fun and glamour of gambling even if you are on a transatlantic flight. Just don't let the stewardesses catch you.

Sunroom Installation: Decorating Your New Space

Deciding to move forward with sunroom installation can be an exciting period in your home ownership journey. Done with a professional contractor, your new space can add life and beauty to your house (not to mention its capability of dramatically increasing your resale value). But what will you do with the room once it has been built? The great thing about this type of space is that the sky is the limit when it comes to options. Relatively few houses have this kind of space, meaning there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to stylish decoration. If you're having trouble coming up with ideas, here are some you can try on for size.

Keep It Light

While it's true that there are no limits to what you can do with your sunroom installation, it would be a strange idea indeed to build such a space and then fill it with dark decorations. Not to say you can't do just that, but you might find more success in keeping your decor on the light side. It certainly doesn't need to mean "white", but sticking with pastels and other light colors will contribute to a cheery atmosphere, something people often crave for such a room.

Life

While it's not a greenhouse, many homeowners like to treat their sunroom installation as a kind of halfway point between inside and outside. If you want to accentuate this perspective, you can fill the space with a variety of plants. They should thrive, considering that they will be exposed to plenty of sunlight.

Fans

Sometimes, a sunroom installation can create a room that is a bit warmer than the rest of the house. Trying to get your air conditioning to keep up with that disparate level of warmth could send your electric bill a-climbin'. To offset some of that cost, you might consider making a ceiling fan part of the process. It costs far less to run one of these than to attempt to reach the same level of coolness with your central air.

Blinds

While you'll probably want to enjoy the sunlight and backyard view more often than not, you should definitely put up some mini-blinds for those times when the sunlight gets to be a bit much. Many homeowners put televisions in the space, and it can be hard to watch TV with a giant glare on the screen. If you want to enjoy your home theater without all the sun, being able to reach over and close the blinds is a nice option to have.

Working With a Basement Remodeler To Achieve Results

Hiring a basement remodeler isn't usually the first thing a homeowner thinks of when he or she wants to redesign their house. Nevertheless, it can be quite an amazing project on which to embark. If it's serving little other purpose than to house your hot water heater and a treadmill, maybe it's time to take advantage of all that extra square footage. By hiring someone adept at this kind of design, you can collaborate on ideas, browsing a portfolio that may spark inspiration inside you. Here are some of the best steps you can take towards making use of that room below the house.

Waterproof It

Before you talk with your basement remodeler about the many ideas you have for a home theater or a play room for your kids, you need to consider getting it waterproofed. If the room floods when there's nothing down there but some utilities and old books, you're not looking at any big loss. If you spend a lot of money turning it into a room you can be proud of, however, you're going to want to protect your investment. Water damage is among the most devastating when it comes to ruining carpet, furniture, and belongings. Fortunately, with some good concrete sealant, this is a job you can do on your own.

Requirements

While it's one thing to work with your basement remodeler to make the room look like it fits naturally with the house, it's another to make the mistake of really believing it's just like any other room. It isn't. That space is going to require some extra attention, which is something you should be aware of early on in the project. For instance, it is probably going to require some extra heating, seeing as how those spaces tend to run cooler than the other parts of the house. You'll also need to concern yourself with flooring, which sometimes needs to be handled a bit differently.

Lighting

When most people think about that part of their house, the term "dingy" comes to mind. But it doesn't have to be dark and wet like a cave! In fact, if you're going to hire a basement remodeler, it certainly shouldn't be by the time you're through with it. One step you've already taken: sealing it up against water. The next step is to improve the lighting. You can't hope to have a room people will want to spend time in if you're still relying on a bare bulb with a chain hanging from it. Brighten things up and you'll have already won half the battle.

Remodeling a Bathroom, The Planning and Budget

Everyone would like to have a beautiful bathroom, but most people settle for what we call the "common look"... White or off-white walls, a white toilet, some type of white sink counter with possibly a little variation in the pattern, a standard mirror, and a standard bath and/or shower, all white. Take this foundation of the "common look", go to a department store, pick a color scheme and purchase matching towels, bathroom rugs, toilet covers, and accessories including a garbage can, soap dish, etc. Voila! The "common look."

As we said, the "common look" is sufficient for most people to be content.

But what about those of you that want more? Want a bathroom that your guests will say, "Wow, that's beautiful... I want to spend all day in there!" or "I love your bathroom design!"?

The first place to start is to think "luxury." Incorporating luxury into your mindset will start the process off in the right direction in creating a special retreat. Think, bubblebath...

Of course, when someone thinks "luxury", immediately they think, "I can't afford it". However, with smart planning and consideration, you can plan a budget to keep the finances in line. In 2008, the average spent on a bathroom remodel for a 9 by 5 foot room was $10,000, while the high-end bathroom project average was $25,000. (Note: Some high-end projects are over $40K). Keeping your budget in mind, you can shop around for fixtures and products that cost less, but are still attractive and in line with the design you have in mind.

You can also save money in planning the remodeling changes. For example, moving a toilet requires moving a waste line that adds costs. Choosing stock items, which some places offer discounts for, can save dollars. Judiciously using tile and translucent glass in areas that are most visible and visually effective can also save you money. Shopping around for different quotes on tiles can result in a wide range of prices for similar glass tile.

Don't forget to allow for labor, which, as a rule of thumb, usually ends up being approximately a third to a half of a project's cost. When it comes to plumbing, be sure to allow a cushion for any surprises that may exist behind your walls and under your floor. For example, any leakage may have rotted wood or materials that have to be replaced. Setting aside 10% of your labor budget will give you a little room for emergencies.

When planning your remodeling project, remember that any changes mid-stream will take extra time and money. Carefully plan out what you want now in order to avoid any changes later once the remodeling starts.

Keeping the above in mind, you will have to do some investigation at the same time you are developing your budget. You need to have a design in mind, a "theme" or look if you will, in order to make sure that your ultimate goals do not exceed your pocketbook. Once you shop around and confirm that the costs of the products you want are in line with the end look of the remodeled bathroom you want, you can be sure that your budget is realistic. If not, then you need to adjust either the budget, or your dream bathroom!

And remember, once you have a budget in hand, don't put it in a drawer and forget about it! Use it to track your actual spending and keep control over the dollars you have to spend while achieving your new, beautiful bathroom. No more "common look" for you!

Custom Furniture With Granite and Marble Slabs

Designers have been pushing the limits of furniture design for many years now. The focus over the last decade has been exploring different materials, finishes, and functions. Traditionally, solid wood furniture has been the largest selection available because of the natural beauty of the wood and easy workability. However, one of the original materials used for furniture making is stone. Dating back to the early Romans, carving stone into beautiful detailed furniture is one of the most revered and valuable arts in interior design. They were built by hand and could take months to finish one piece. Now days, we have the luxury of highly-technical equipment to produce beautiful stone furniture with the use of water-jets and diamond blades. Almost any furniture design created digitally can be executed with the use of computer driven machines that carefully cut or carve out precise measurements and details with little to no waste.

To create a piece that is unexpected is far more marketable than recreating the classics. Contrasting materials in the same piece help to create visual balance and artistic quality. Stone elements are excellent compliments to wood, metal, and glass. The versatility of granite or marble slabs is that they work well with these other elements since they are found in nature together. Some of the most appealing furniture is a combination of marble table tops on a metal or wood base. The unpredictable movement in the marble paired with the reliability of metal, wood, or glass creates a desirable result in any style. Making furniture out of stone makes logical sense because of its strength and integrity. Stone slabs such as marble, granite, travertine, onyx, and quartzite are a product of nature and are extremely durable. These slabs have been formed from rock deep in the earth and will not only hold up well to daily wear and tear, but if they are taken care of properly, they will outlast any other materials used for furniture. Metal will corrode, wood will rot, and glass will break, but stone can last forever. In addition, stone slabs are low maintenance and easy to clean.

The accessibility of granite and marble slabs today make it even easier to design and produce custom stone furniture. A common use is tables where a slab is installed to a metal frame or wood base. The stone slab is secured on the top much like a counter top. A newer trend in stone furniture design is to create a piece using slabs as the top and base. With more intricate designs, the piece may require a frame to help support the weight of the slabs. In this case a hidden metal framework is a good choice since it is versatile and strong. Perhaps the most beautiful stone furniture is created with marble, onyx, or exotic granite since they all have large-scale movement. One of the most important factors in creating a successful piece with stone is allowing the natural colors and reflectivity of the minerals embedded in the stone become the focus.
